Angry dealbarbiepays sold

Another site owner selling without giving people any notice 1 of the oldest sites on here get sold Where is this world going to And what about giving members notice before selling in case they wanted to opt out of having their information passed on to someone else I am sure Dealbarbiepays will pay everyone he owes but it is the principle of the matter and the respect of members wanting to protect our privacy I been waiting for a few hours for someone to post something about the sell but seems no one has wanted to say anything so I thought I would sign up and say something

Re: dealbarbiepays sold

I must say I was kind of surprised myself to hear about the sale (I just found out about it today) and even more surprised when I came here and found nothing about it from Christina (former DealBarbie network owner) or anyone else... especially since there was a pretty lengthy discussion in here just a month or two ago about similar issues about other sites being sold.

That said, I have given a fair amount of publicity and support for the DealBarbie sites this year and normally, when a site is sold, I remove it from categories I put highly recommended sites in - Sites That Pay, etc. - unless the new owner has paid me before or until I'm paid by the new owner. The new owner, Dan, has a pretty good reputation and I am a member of his sites but have never been paid by them, but I'm tentatively leaving my categorization and recommendation of the DealBarbie sites alone for now based on the good reputation of the new owner (plus the fact I'm hoping to be paid by one of the sites again soon). I do hope nothing much will change with the DealBarbie sites as they're one of the few GPTs I still work and enjoy, and rather like them just the way they are.

But yeah, I was kind of surprised there was nothing here already, like you.

Re: dealbarbiepays sold

I'm actually quite surprised as well that the site was sold, but I read the message sent out by the admin and I can understand that it was for her own personal reasons. Her family's health issues, and her going back to school and what not.

I really hope nothing changes as well because I really enjoy the site just the way it is.

I think she has her reasons for not making an announcement yet and maybe they are still working out the details that's why she haven't publicly announced it in the forum or anywhere else. I can't imagine she'd just leave without even saying goodbye. It just doesn't seem like her.

Anyway, this is just my opinion, I have no more knowledge about it than everyone else.

Re: dealbarbiepays sold

I was also shocked by the sale but she did leave the sites in good hands
Dan has been a great site owner and even better affiliate owner so monetary wise the site will be good - Just waiting to see the changes he might make to the site

Re: dealbarbiepays sold

I found out myself this morning when I read the message Christina sent out. I sent a reply asking some pertinent questions regarding my position as a moderator and about some advertising I have coming to me. I have not heard back yet.

I am also surprised that there has been no announcement at the DB forum - nothing from Christina or from the new owner. I would have thought that he would have at least introduced himself by now.

Regardless, there have already been some cosmetic changes most notably the number of offers; when I was at the board last night I personally had 16 pages of offers available - there are now half that amount.

Along with each offer there is what I can only describe as an 'approval rating mini banner' and I am sorry to say I think it looks terrible. It cheapens the appearance of the board.

All that being said I do not blame Christina in the least for doing what she did - her family comes first. I would never fault anyone for that.

I just hope things don't end up going to hell.

Edited to add: after looking around the site a bit more I am aggravated to find that not only are some of my advertisements missing but the ones that remain have that tacky approval rating banner on them.

That banner was NOT part of the package when I purchased those ads.

I and my team are really busy working out on transferring everything on the site. All support issues will remain steady as soon as we tie up some last ends. It is a lot of work to try and seamlessly change a site, and I feel we have been doing a pretty good job for it being less than 24 hours.

Again, once everything has been settled a bit, I will send a formal introduction and discuss everything to come.

Links for offers need to be changed 1 by 1. It is a slow process, and were steadily working thru activating and adding more and more offers. Some advertisers still need to approve the site under a new account, so yes, there is less offers for the time being. 90% of the offers that were expired were cash back shopping offers.

That is actually a small script that rates the offer based on the # of members who submitted vs the # of members who were approved. It is designed to help members tell which offers have a higher approval rating. The design to it isnt permanant. I will see what I can do to get it to not show in the member ads. If you had an image banner on your pts ad, I didnt remove it, this "banner" that you speak of is actually coded to be there on every offer, regardless if it has a banner.

Agreed. The site is in good hands with me and its not going anywhere. I have seen many site transactions lately, and I can guarantee this will be the smoothest youve seen

If you are missing ads, they were probably expired on accident, and I have no problem fixing this issue. Open a trouble ticket with anything that you need. I hope this explains everything for you!

Re: dealbarbiepays sold

I didn't find out until about ten minutes ago. I got the announcement in the Inbox maybe 35minutes ago. I'm sure the DB network will be in good hands, but I will miss Christina.

So, I'm shocked, a little excited at the change because I want to see what will happen next, and sad because Christina was easy/fun to talk to.

I don't really have any problem with it personally and I agree that it appears it'll be in good hands. I just finished reading Dan's mail sent out to DBP members a little while ago and was pleased with what I read.

I guess what I really meant to say is that it just kind of surprised me that the announcement was so sudden and that I came here and found no discussion about it yesterday morning because there was so much discussion in here a couple of months ago following the sale of the DealBarbieDollarClick site, with many people having some negative opinions about a site being sold with no prior notification to members and giving them no option to cancel or remove their personal information from the site prior to the sale. That's why this coming about like this kinda shocked me.

There's another thing too and I'm a little hesitant to bring it up as I personally have "no dog in the hunt", but I know there are some sites out there that are disallowing advertising for sites that are sold with no prior notice to members - mainly, I believe, due to members not being given the option to remove their personal information if they so desired before a site changes hands. I think part of that may have stemmed from that very discussion I mentioned above, so that's another reason this situation was a little concerning. If I'm understanding those sites' rules correctly, I cannot advertise any DealBarbie sites on those sites now because the sites were sold without prior notification to members.

Again, for me personally, I'm fine with it all. I was very pleased with what I read from Dan to the DBP members earlier and I think things will be good, and I will likely remain active on the DB sites and keep recommending them like I always have.

I think it's probably a safe bet that most other members will be fine with it as well, but as we've seen quite a bit here lately, some might not be. And since it was another site previously in the same network that brought on that discussion about people's concerns with sites changing hands with no prior notification, that was really the only reason I was as surprised as I was by the news. I'm personally good with it and most people probably will be, yep.
