View Full Version : survey savvy- lying scammers

I have decided that they are a scam. I did a survey, I know for a FACT I qualified because I completed the survey and the survey said I had been credited. I didn't get credit. I attempted to contact them repeatedly with no reply. Well today after a week I get this BS reply:

As noted in our original email invitation; all our surveys include screener questions that
determine whether a respondent is qualified to participate in a survey. Based on the answers you provided
in the screening section, you do not qualify for this survey. You will, however, be entered into
our monthly sweepstakes drawing of 50 $10 prizes. As soon as we have
another survey we think you qualify for, we will notify you via e-mail.

Now that's strange considering that the survey took 20 minutes, and when finished notified me that I had answered all the questions and recieved credit. Nice little out they make for themselves here. They let you finish the survey but then use this excuse not to pay you. A bunch of lying asses. There is no way to manually delete your account, only a way to unsubscribe from survey notifications. Data mining, anyone? They will soon be receiving a call from their state AG, and I don't think they will be happy with the fact that they are a registered member of the BBB, because I will be filing complaints against them for fraud and misuse of personal data.

You'll notice on their front page they make this claim:

As of September 05, 2002, Luth Research has paid consumers $7,727,682.63 for participating in surveys!

Umm...come on. That's plain laughable. There are much larger survey companies who haven't paid anywhere near that. Even Nitroclicks didn't make that kind of wild claim.

A look at the BBB reveals:

Principal : Ms Roseanne Luth President
Phone Number: (619) 234-5884
Fax Number: (619) 283-1251
Email Address: info@luthresearch.com
Membership Status: Yes
Date Joined BBB: August 1993
Type-of-Business Classification: Marketing Research
Website Address: www.luthresearch.com

They do have a satisfactory rating, yet there was a complaint filed in the last year which was supposedly resolved. It was listed as "refund/exchange issue". Sounds like someone else didn't get paid either.

A visit to the luth site reveals this info:

"...Our client services include focus groups, mail intercepts, one-on-one interviews, ONLINE DATA COLLECTION, and telephone interviews".

Translation: We take people's data and sell it to telemarketers.
They are listed under the BBB Privacy Program Standards, yet they offer no way for members to remove their own account at all. Seems that isn't inline with BBB Privacy standards.

looks like I got these dorks attention. My reply to their last mail:

That's quite odd, according to the survey I did qualify; why else
would I have been able to complete the entire survey? Whey then did the survey announce that I had
been credited? You are trying to tell me your screener questions take 20 minutes to complete on
average? I smell bullsh*t on your part. You are now going to be listed as a scam. I give you thirty
(30) days to completely remove my account and ALL data connected with it.

Their lame reply:

We appreciate your participation in the SurveySavvy.com community and encourage you to remain.
However, if you would like, you may unsubscribe by going to the FAQ page and utilizing the
"unsubscribe" link. Once you unsubscribe, we will no longer send you surveys, but you will still be
compensated by the participation of those whom you've referred and those that the people under you
referred (2 levels altogether). If you have further questions, please contact us again.

So they are telling me I can't leave the program? Really makes me feel good giving them my data. My reply to this BS:

Can't you read? I repeat:

I wish ALL of my data to be deleted. Failure to do so will result in legal action against you. I will be reporting you to the BBB for privacy violation. If my data is not removed completely and in a reasonably timely manner, I will file charges with your state AG.

I think you're referring to study # L3400. If so, that study was hosted off site by our client. We
are waiting on a list of respondents who completed the study so we can credit their accounts. If
you completed the study, please give us 3-4 weeks for delivery, data entry and processing.
Thank you for participating!

LOLOLOL!!! Funny how getting legal action pointed at someone makes them come up with another angle! I don't even want any **** money from them, I just want OUT of their scam program. And if this was hosted offsite, funny how they "just knew" I supposedly didn't complete it? I love the way these companies act when caught in a lie.
