View Full Version : Does ANYONE Read Program TOSs

With all due respect for legitimate complaints there are people out there who sign up for programs without reading a program's tos before joining.
Next thing you know, a good program is boycotted.
I joined this forum because it looked like a good way to find legitimate programs from which to earn money.
I always read a program's FAQs and TOS before I join. Believe me, it saves time and tells me for myself whether a program is worth the effort.
Don't get me wrong, I've been burned a few times (reaching payout just before the program disappears, or getting deleted soon after requesting payment.), but, I never complained unless the complaint was legitimate. And, this is not to say that some of the complaints I read in the "Suggest a boycott" are mis-judged.
I say this because one of the programs that got boycotted (Sept. 22, 2003), in my opinion, was based on illigitimate complaints. By that I mean, if you read the tos of this program, you would see these complaints are unjustified.
If a person does not read tos before they join a program; then publically complain (again, without first double-checking the tos), it mis-leads people from joining a good program.
This is not to say I'm dis-satisfied with GPTBoycott. It really is entertaining and sparks my talent for debate. And, I guess, I can still find good programs by comparing the pros and cons of any specific program I'm interested in joining.

I agree with you. Everyone should read the TOS of a program before joining.
There are too many programs, though, that change their terms when it suits the PO. Usually just as everyone reaches cashout. ;)
That's just a general comment, btw. I don't know which program you are talking about and I'm not a member of any of the sites boycotted, so wouldn't know if they've changed their terms. :)

I am in total agreement with you about reading the TOS of a program ( and following it ) before I sign up with a site. I know that it appears that the TOS of the PTR and PTC realm are being changed alot lately, but if you try to look at it from another angle, they are like most businesses, that in order to succeed and grow, sometimes changes do need to be made ( members are informed that there have been changes in the TOS and are prompted to re-read them on those occassions).

I agree that all members should read and agree to the Terms Of Service set forth by the program before signing up.
It is also not unreasonable, in my opinion, for a program to make minor changes in its TOS, for the good of the program, and ultimately to benefit its members and owner(s) alike.
However, what I do not find acceptable, is repeated TOS changes, which change the whole complex of the program, for the benefit of the webmaster(s) only.

I'm glad to see you are not dissatisfied with us. Perhaps if more people read and understood the respective TOS of any given program, they would better assess the value of the program to them, as members.
As for the process of Boycotting, we would prefer rational, justifiable complaints. Normally, when I draft a page text for the program to be added to the list, I research forum threads, here and elsewhere, for additional comments expressing concerns about the program to be listed. Though we only begin with ten complaints, there are usually many more found throughout the forums; therefore, links are added to those particular discussions - which, btw, include both good and bad comments.
The ultimate decision, concerning the program and whether or not to join, lies with the reader.

Thank you for your support. I have posted another poll and comment in the "boycotted program discussion" area of this forum. I am trying to get the boycott revoked because the webmaster of this program really does pay.
Even if none of you are members of this program, after reading my comment, you may want to help by voting yes or no on the poll.
This particular program may not be the program you might want to join, per say, because the tos are tough and the wm is just as tough. In fact, the person I joined under had to help me with some of it (he was a mentor from another program). But, to say he doesn't pay and his terms are mis-leading and constantly changing goes against the integrity of this webmaster.
If you want to see the tos of this program, let me know privately and I will direct you to them.
Again, I thank you for your support and appreciate any cooporation you can give.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!!
OF ALL THE PEOPLE THAT VOTED, 100% OF YOU HAVE VOTED FOR:
"ONLY JUSTIFIED COMPLAINTS" (tos based/breeched) should be considered as cause for boycotts.
