Yes, she does that. That is not unusual for her to do that. I bought have bought sites from her and she leaves the domain in her name. I'm not saying that it is the right thing to do but that's what she does. As a matter of fact, I owned Nemo and gave it to her. A few weeks later, which happened to be this past weekend. We were chatting and she told me that she just sold nemo. Not sure who the guy was though. So, just because it's in her name doesn't make it hers to run.

However it makes us who know her and what she is about shiver and run as fast and as far as we can from that site. just my opinion

Domain ownership is EVERYTHING in this industry.
If she owns the domain, she can go in and move the site to a new host or delete the domain name completely. She could not pay to renew it and it expires without the 'supposed' owner being able to anything about it.
If something happens with the site, the domain holder takes the fall in the end. They OWN the domain.. so they own the license to the script and whatever else that entails.
So.. sorry Kim.. but that's exactly what it means.
If the 'supposed' new owner doesn't get the domain name.. they got nothing.

This is 12horsemom. In my defense, I have not heard from anyone about transferring these domains, believe me I want to. I want them off of my Go Daddy account.
Betsy helped me sell these sites. A guy bought them, I don't know who and he has not contacted me about pushing these domains to him.
If the new owners of Honeybee, Sunshine, Rosebud, and Tiki would step up to the plate and email me at 12kballard @ gmail.com I will be more than happy to push the domains to their account.

Ok so now I am really confuzzled.
Maderite says they own all these sites and they are up for resale.
Kelbel says she bought one and ruready got one as well.
I guess the part that confuses me is now maderite coming in saying they own these sites.

Going off of what I bolded here, if you guys don't mind a suggestion, maybe it would be better for the two of you to communicate through PMs here on this forum since both of you are members here. At least that would eliminate the issue of emails getting lost in cyberspace. Just a suggestion. ;)

Hi
This is Kim Ballard. Yes, I own Sunshine clicks and many other sites. I also now own Rosebudoffers and Tikitreasure because Betsy was so upset by all of this mess that she turned them over to me for the sake of the sites. We were partners with the two sites. I own Sunshine by myself plus 2 more that I just bought from Rhonda. Yes, Betsy and I are friends. She has done many ptc sites for me. Awhile back she told me about Scamantha and what happened. I believe her and trust in her. I too believe that Good wins over Evil.

wow this is another one for the books, kelbel is advertising tiki as her new site, but it is not in her name and 12horsemom says she owns the sites but it is in a name of peters on a fake address which does not exist in Rhode Island but all the sites recently bought with the email address that horsemom used says they are in Mississippi...talk about weaving some crooked tale, what the hay is going on here?

I can tell you that Betsy is no ones friend but her own, so anyone be careful! She knew full well what Scamantha was and is because she is not much better with the lies and scamming herself. She protected scamantha and in the process protected herself. But then we all go for self perservation first. She used copyrighted and protected graphics and images and then when she got caught she changed it all to phony information on the domains rather than just change the graphics. I am sorry to say beginning to look like more than one scamantha is going around on this merry-go-round. I hope the honest people who have bought these sites can get their domains and recover whatever damage has been done to the domain names.

Well, I am an honest person, and I bought Tiki Treasure in good faith. I do have all of it EXCEPT the domain, and that is a rather tangled tale that I did not create; however, if the domain is not transferred to me as it was supposed to be, I will be the owner of the domain in May. I have taken steps to insure that. That, realistically, is all that I can do at this point, except run a good site honestly! Which is exactly what I am endeavoring to do. It is mine on a day-to-day basis, I run it myself, and I don't believe that you will find anyone that can say that I do not do things in an honest manner. I am doing my best to deal with the situation and take care of the members. Thank you for your posts.

How do you EXPECT to get the domain in May?
Once it expires, it's not resold right away. You have to wait for it to become available.. could be days or weeks... then you might have to go through a domain for sale type situation because some bot has picked it up due to it's traffic. It could cost you $100s!
May is 6 months away... so many things could happen in that time. The owner could go in and transfer it to a different host.. your site info would be okay because it's on it's original server... but the domain is gone.
If there is no way for you to get the domain.. I'd suggest you either get out now.. before you get too attached. File a paypal complaint against the person that sold the illegal product to you.. stating that you were never given the domain name.
Or find out how hard it is to transfer a shiftcode site to a new domain!

John.. I've just got to ask!!...
Why are you selling sites that you do not have possession of the domain names on?
How hard is it to wait a few days to make sure the domain gets pushed before you sell to someone else?
You're always talking about how good and great you are.. your hosting is.. but I'm sorry.. every time you turn around, you're messing up!
Eygptian.. Tiki.. that's just in the last month... the list goes on and on!
My suggestion for you would be to slow down and think before you jump! Make sure all the dots and crosses are in place before you even start a transaction.

I forgot to add.. most domain registry sites have a 30-35 day grace period, where they'll hold the domain for the owner, hoping they'll renew it.

Exactly, once a domain expires say like for example today, the one who currently has it can renew it on most renewals for the current price what ever like 10 bucks util the redemption period is over. Next they have about 90 days to renew it at a premuim price sometimes quite high in price. Now if they do not renew it and you back order it before anyone else does it is your domain and right now I think to back order most charge 20 bucks or there abouts. However if this domain is with Yahoo, all bets are off the table as yahoo just raised thier renewal for a .com to 34.95 so Lord only knows what prices they may charge to do any of the back ordering or redemptions.
I agree if you can't get the name of the site changed don't get too attached as some one may pull the rug from under you in a flash.
Again good luck
kelbel39
20th December 2008, 20:19
I did place a backorder. Hopefully that will work; more hopefully, it won't be necessary and it will actually be transferred as it was supposed to be. Like I said, all I can do at this point is make the situation work to the best of my ability. Thank you for your good wishes- that can't hurt.

Oh man.. I'm sooo sick of the defliction trick!!
This isn't about JJ!
JJ has NEVER sold a site that he didn't hold the domain name on. If someone asks for their domain.. he'll send it right to them. If you do the same thing.. great for you!
That's totally different than selling a site you rightfully and LEGALLY do not own! Without the domain name in your possession.. those sites should of NEVER been sold to anyone.
It's also a lot different than copying a site and selling a clone to someone else.
And why would you get in an argument with JJ over a difference of opinion with me? Sounds like your problem, not mine and I'm sure not going to hush and not say what I think because of that!
It's besides the fact that all I did was ask you a question and offer a suggestion. Can't answer a question or take criticism at all?

ok crystal ill give that one to you your right maybe i did jump the gun on selling the sites but i offered them thinking it ould take a couple days to sell them i didnt realize 15 minutes after i sent out the announcement to only 10 people that i was gonna have them spoken for.
Egyptian is a whole other thing........
maybe i did make a mistake but point is i had done business with the person brokering them and never had them do me wrong and there was a trust factor.
and in the end almost everything turned out just fine if it wouldnt have the people that spoke up for the sites and bought them wouldve been refunded completely for theyre money and given a discount on any future purchase with us to compensate the problem.
and as far as speaking of mr j i meant out of respect for him i did not want to get into a discussion with you thats all.
because in the end he has taught me alot about this business and i may not always agree with him but respect that.
And i also apologize to him for bringing him into this thread period.

Exactly - that appears to be the unsolvable problem. So, as what appears to me to be the last & only resort, I bought the domain tikitreasure.net and Shiftcode is going to move the site for me. My biggest worry in this is how it will potentially cause worry for Tiki members, who are still trying to deal with numerous changes in admin- but I see no other solution to this problem, when evidently the owner of the tikitreasure.com domain- who obviously did not push the domain about 2 sales ago- cannot be located or will not respond. I am not willing to risk all their data, as well as mine, to someone that was not responsible and did not follow through with site sales aggreements. I have notified members, and I hope they will continue to ride this out with me as I try to solve the problems that should have been solved some time ago. I thank everyone for their support as well as their advice. :)

Good job! I think that decision was the best for everyone and in the long run, will work out best for you, so you can continue to learn and grow with the program.. instead of having a fear weighing you down.
Since shiftcode sites are hosted by shiftcode themselves.. I wonder if they'd be willing to put a message on the original domain.. saying that it's moved.. just for a little while?
Members will find you though. I've seen domain name changes quite a bit and can't remember a lot of problems with any of them ever.
I'll keep an eye out at the other 2 forums that I frequent.. if I see someone asking.. I'll point them in the right direction!
Good luck!! :)

Kelbel39 I think transferring TikiTreasure to the .net domain is the best solution as you will then have full control.
