The time has come for me to resign as administrator. For months, I have distanced myself from GPTB, primarily for personal reasons not made known to the membership. When last here, prior to my lengthy absence, I had the displeasure of being placed in a position of taking administrative action against someone I had frequently communicated with, respected and considered to be a friend, closer than most I will add. The circumstances, at the time, dictated the action taken and necessitated friendship be set aside. Forum rules, like laws, are put in place to maintain order ... like it or not. People demanded explanations as to why members were banned ... not giving due consideration to the numerous staff warnings posted throughout threads that were eventually closed due to repeated disruptions and continued attacks on members and moderators, all as if the reasons were not self-evident. Upon my recent return, I was once again placed in the undesirable position of having to take administrative action and deny member privileges at this site. Why is it more important to further display personal problems and vendettas, risking loss of membership while losing sight of the purpose of this site, when experience and knowledge is sorely needed?
To clarify a couple of things to those who still require explanation, for some of us it was not a matter of having the "balls" to call a spade a spade, or referencing a dictionary when a former member posted, rather it was simply a matter of growing tired of the sarcasm and snide remarks made which stopped just short of obvious abuse of forum rules, i.e., innuendo was prevalent too often to be overlooked and ignored. As Josh has said, there were those who had been given a final warning prior to being banned; so, they were, and are, well aware of why they are no longer members, regardless of whether they will admit it. Obviously, it is much easier to place blame on GPTB staff rather than simply admit wrongdoing. Moving on, another was banned while attempting to force a ruling against a moderator and issuing an implied threat toward the forum. Without naming the individuals, each knows who they are and why they are no longer allowed to post here. No action was/is taken without due consideration and justification.
During my time here, I have been fortunate to make some lasting friends ... worldwide ... you all know who you are and know you will be missed. However, I can no longer justify holding the position I have, while being here so infrequently. Having said that, I wish you all the best in your current and future endeavors.
Thank you all for supporting us, and me, during my time here. It has been an honor to be here with each of you.
Ron
